Read Now

Today you're going to learn which are the best and most alternative beaches you can swim and have fun in Mykonos. Locals know that Mykonos' beaches are more than fancy parties, and they can offer peace, quiet and natural beauty. You can choose among those that have beach bars on them or those that are more secluded. In general, beaches in the south offer touristic facilities, while those in the north don't. So, let's dive in!

Ftelia

Blonde sand, deep blue sea waters, and beige mountains are all you see on this beach. There is only a small beach bar and the rest of the coast is free. You can simply lie in the sand with your towels and enjoy an experience of unparalleled relaxation and revitalization. You can access Ftelia via vehicle approximately 7 km away from Mykonos Town. Tip: When the wind blows from the north, the place isn’t suitable for swimming, but it’s ideal for surfing!

Kalo Leivadi

This beach consists of an enormous exotic coast that combines beach bars and free space simultaneously. A dive into its crystal-clear waters is enough to make you forget everything and simply enjoy the moment. You can access Kalo Leivadi in the southeastern region of the island via vehicle or the local bus from Old Port.

Agios Stefanos

The beach is situated quite near Chora by car and is one of the places native people prefer for their everyday swimming. Right next to the beach, there is a Greek restaurant. You can chill out in the restaurant or the sunbeds on the beach. Food and drinks are served in both of them.

Agios Sostis

If you want to enjoy the pure natural beauty, Agios Sostis is for you. In Agios Sostis you can find two beaches, one big and one extremely small. Both of them are free and don't have beach bars and sunbeds on them. The peace they give you is remarkable. Both of them are accessible via vehicle.

Above the small beach you can find a  Greek restaurant, called Kiki's, with Greek dishes, seafood and distinctive salads. On the downside, it has a lot of people waiting to be served.

Fokos

If you visit Fokos, you'll forget everything you know about Mykonos. Fokos is among the quietest and most secluded beaches of Mykonos, where you can experience the island's pure, wild, natural beauty. The waterfront is free, and you can lie with your towels in the sand, enjoying a complete alternative experience. Fokos lies approximately 14 minutes away by car from Ano Mera in the island's northern part.

These beaches may be all you need to relax and have alternative fun in the island of the winds. Are you ready to explore them?
